Am I mean for asking for silence?

So, I live in a dorm and it was well past quiet hours (otherwise I would not care) and my neighbors had some friends over. They were playing video games and basically being SUPER loud. I did not want to confront them so I just told my Resident istant to tell them to be a little quieter without naming me. Am I a heartless person for doing that? I mean, they were yelling out things like "Eff you in the a*s" and stuff like that. I mean, it's QUIET hours and I don't need my ears d by such language late at night like that.
